These Alco PA-1 and PB-1 Denver & Rio Grande Western Gold “4 stripe” locomotives pulled D&RGW passenger trains through the Rocky Mountains and also pulled the “California Zephyr” between Denver and Salt Lake City. They looked absolutely superb with their silver and gold paint scheme with 4 stripes winding their way through tunnels and along the rivers in the Colorado Rockies.
