While World War II was in progress, the rails were taxed to capacity, particularly the B&O lines between Pittsburgh and Chicago. The answer to this need for further capacity was to build 40 more Mountains from the Mount Clare Shops, the last locomotives to be built there. In 1951 B&O Built the large Vandy Tender and used them behind 7 different T-3s by 1953. Sunset Models has built the T-3b class and offers either the 20,000 Gallon Rectangular tender or long Vandy tender for your freight and passenger service.
