The K4 Paci c was the cornerstone of Pennsy’s passenger service. For 41 years, 1916 through 1957, the K4 performed most competently with a superb combination of speed, power and grace. So enamored with this locomotive, the Juniata and Baldwin Shops built 425 units in 11 years. In the mid 1930’s, as the passenger consists grew longer and heavier, Pennsy would double and even triple head the K4’s.

Imagine yourself standing next to a track in Pennsylvania, seeing and hearing a consist of triple headed K4’s pulling a long line of passenger cars  lled with patrons speeding by. Imagine seeing and hearing the three sets of pistons pounding, the perfect rhythm of the side rods  ailing, whistles echoing through the Pennsylvania valleys…A site to behold. Even though we cannot rewitness the past, you can recreate it on your pike. Ah, the magic of model railroading!
