LRC locomotive #6922 was painted in this striking blue scheme by the shop crews at VIA’s Montreal Maintenance Centre. It was just a test and never actually ran in this scheme, but we thought it looked so amazing that we are releasing 6922 as it would have looked had it been returned to service in blue. The prototype only wore this scheme on the front and right side. We’ve applied it to the entire locomotive so you can have this striking blue engine pulling your Rapido blue and yellow cars around your layout.

The 31 prototype LRC locomotives were built by Bombardier between 1981 and 1984. Powered by a 16 cylinder Alco 251F producing 3700 HP, these locomotives were designed for high speed operation on existing track. They lasted in service on VIA until 2001. Two locomotives and ten coaches were also leased to Amtrak and operated in service between New York and Boston.

The HO scale model was scaled dierectly from the prototype and includes all of the details that you would expect from Rapido. All units feature the same smooth running drive components as their acclaimed FP9 locomotoves. Sound-equipped models will include custom decoders utilizing sounds recorded from unit 6521 at Exporail in Montreal, Canada.
