Flat cars can carry almost anything, but these cars were purposely designed to carry pipe - and lots of it! Manufactured by American Car & Foundry, the 89' F-89-J Flat Cars were built in the late 1960's for intermodal service. By the 1990's, the Trailer Train Company had developed another use for these and other cars through the JTTX conversion program. The JTTX fleet was designed to accommodate pipe and bulk loads of varying diameter and weight. Featuring new, side mounted brake rigging and other JTTX specific details, these cars continue to roam the rails today carrying pipe and bulk loads of all kinds all over North America.
