These 51’ mechanical reefers with rivet sides, single plug doors and no roofwalks are painted aluminum with red, white and black Monad logos. They run on Roller Bearing trucks. Built in January 1956 by Pacific Car & Foundry Company, these rivet side mechanical refrigerators wear the standard scheme for NP mechanical refrigerators – aluminum sides, ends, and roofs, with a 5’ herald. These cars were used to transport frozen foods. The electrical heating features were used for shipping produce, for example, cherries, and apples from Washington, potatoes from Minnesota’s Red River Valley and fish and bananas from Seattle.
