These 39’ Single Dome Tank Cars ran the midwest region on roller bearing trucks. The Chicago Great WesternRailroad was a Class 1, nicknamed the “Corn Belt Route” because it linked many cities in the Midwest.
Despite CGW doing reasonably well during the 1950s and 1960s the railroad merged with C&NW in July 1,1968. Road#264 CGW in this series was the only one painted green, it was used for lube oil loading only.
Kerosene was the commodity hauled in the Road #290 aluminum tanker.
