Pennsy acquired 116 F7A units and 76 F7B units between mid-1949 and early 1952. The units were not all sequentially numbered as purchased. The lettering and the single stripe is buff with the PRR keystone in red and buff. The Pennsy fleet of F7s handled the preference freights giving twenty years of service, with some units passing into the Penn Central merger.
