Announcing a “cool” new offering from Blackstone Models – D&RGW 30’ Refrigerator Cars!

This release is based on the prototypes after they were rebuilt by the Denver & Rio Grande Western (D&RGW) in 1926, which included new Murphy roofs. The cars were originally built by American Car & Foundry in 1908 and numbered 32 to 81. Known as “short” reefers, these 20-ton cars traversed the Colorado narrow gauge through the late 1950s.

Blackstone Models will release eight road numbers in late 2015. These ready-to-run models will be available with freshly shopped American Refrigerator Transit (ART) Yellow sides, and red roof and ends. They will be available in three D&RGW liveries – Flying Grande, Moffat Tunnel, and Royal Gorge Route. As with all Blackstone Models rolling stock, these reefers will be equipped with Kadee® No. 714 couplers and free-rolling trucks
