The Chicago Short Line (or South Chicago & Indiana Harbor as it is known today) is a 28 mile steel hauling line linking the Calumet District in Chicago with Indiana Harbor. They have been known for their shiny, clean switchers that were routinely washed and hand waxed! When ownership of the steel mills and shortline passed from LTV Steel to International Steel Group, the name of Chicago Short Line was changed to South Chicago & Indiana Harbor. The paint scheme remains the same (the locomotives still have “Chicago Short Line” lettering on their flanks) but there have been changes to the logo and SCIH reporting marks have replaced the old CSL. We will be producing one road number in each of the 2 lettering variations.
