Pittsburgh & Lake Erie – as delivered 3-Bay Offset Side Hoppers. This elegant paint scheme was applied to a 1,000 car batch of hoppers delivered by Greenville Steel Car to the P&LE in September of 1948. The P&LE was known as “The Little Giant” and for good reason. With just 233 miles of route, they generated so much traffic that they required a freight car fleet of more than 25,000 cars! That’s 107 cars for every mile of mainline. For most of their history, P&LE was controlled by New York Central (note the NYC oval logo) but operated independently to a great extent. This run will be available in 6 road numbers.
