Well cars come in a number of sizes, related to the standard sizes of the containers they are designed to carry. The 56 ft well car is a bit of an oddity, as it is designed specifically to carry the somewhat rare 28 ft Container. These containers are often used by UPS and allow for towing 2 containers on chassis over many roads. This allows for larger shipment capacity for each truck. Though these well cars are meant for 28 ft containers, they can hold any container from 20 to 53 ft, giving them added versatility.
