This 50’ Standard box car with plug door is painted yellow with aluminum roof and black ends. Built in 1940 at U.P.’s Omaha shop as part of series 499000-499299, it runs on Bettendorf trucks. Used to ship shorter distances than mechanical reefers, these cars featured single plug doors to help seal in pre-cooled merchandise.
