One of the most recognized diesel locomotives of all time, the Electro-Motive SW8 and SW9 were used by virtually every major railroad in the US and Canada. These engines could be found in both yard and mainline service, sporting some of the most vibrant and handsome color schemes ever applied to locomotives. The SW Series was produced from 1950 through 1966 with only minor detail changes. Several examples of this locomotive series are still in service today, working primarily for short line and regional railroads.
