The 1997 film Switchback features a Rio Grande train pulled by two ex-SP SD39s that were leased and painted specifically for the role. After the filming was completed, the engines were returned to their owner, Andesite Rock Company, where they continued to work in faded Rio Grande paint for several years, as depicted by our model.
