Hoppers have been around for much of railroading. Originally developed from gondolas, they offer ease of loading and unloading. Today, there are many types and sizes of open and covered hoppers carrying many different types of products and materials. These 3 bay ribbed hoppers were built in the 50's & 60's and carried coal for many railroads.
