The plans for this kit were drawn from the original CNR plans dated 1948. These sand houses were used all over the CN western lines where full engine servicing facilities were located but the smaller 100T coaling plant such as our kit # 1047 was used. They lasted well into the age of the diesel, in fact one in Downtown Vancouver served diesel switchers with sand until the yards were shut down in the early 1980's. (Larger terminals had the 100T double coaling tower that had the sanding facilities enclosed in it and was able to service two engines simultaneously. Our upcoming version of this kit (THE BRANDON BUNKER) will be available in the spring of 2013.)  All parts are cast from original molds made only for this kit for the utmost in accuracy.  Laser cut wood and colour coded stripwood is made by Mt Albert scale lumber.  The footprint is  9" x 3" and will sit back about 3.5" from the track center.
