Home heating underwent many changes in the mid to late 1800's and well into the current cntury. Many home changed from wood to coal for the furnaces and as railroads had huge interest in coal it was natural that they became a major suppler to the retail coal market. Commercial coal sheds such as this one were found near stations so the station master could also be a coal seller in his spare time. Our model is one of the standard sizes used in smaller towns. Some had 12 or 15 coal bays in larger centers.  This kit has 5 baysa. Regular unloading doors re included and at the right height to shovel coal out of a hopper on level track. A small office, a shovel  and numerous coal sacks will be included.
