Reviews

I received Tony's new Kalmbach book and it's another winner. If you are looking for ways to incorporate industries, no matter the size in a compact way on your layout this is a nice comprehensive book is just what you're looking for.

He first, covers places which are "industries" which we don't normally think of as revenue producing business's ...because they aren't. They are the locomotive, caboose, passenger car servicing, repair and supply facilities along with scales, stock pens, ice docks, fuel storage , etc..

He also includes various examples of interchange facilities and team track/freight houses as "industries".

He then goes through variety, of industries both large and small and shows he handled building small and large industries to fit small areas. I particularly, liked his detailed discussion and illustrations of dealing with one of my favorities...bulk oil distributors.

While some of the photos are re-prints from other Kalmbach articles there is a lot of fresh material in this book and he even deals with some modern railroad examples. This is an interesting read and an excellent reference book for all modelers.
