Available On: August 1, 2019
Travelers aboard the City of Los Angeles in the 1960's could enjoy the best of both worlds, whether relaxing in style aboard luxurious Pullman sleepers and lingering over dinner in the signature Dome-Diner or its lower level “Gold Room,” or taking advantage of lower priced coach fares and tasty meals served quickly in the Café-Lounge.
Walthers Proto brings you 10 limited edition cars to model this great train, and now there are two ways to customize your consists for operation or display. For the first time ever, individual cars with a factory printed name or number as appropriate are available from the 920-9540 series. Or model any car in the City of Los Angeles fleet with the standard cars from the 920-9530 series, which include decals with the full selection of names and numbers used on the prototypes.
Although dome cars were standard on many western luxury trains, Union Pacific was the only one that could boast of dome-diners! Delivered in 1955 under lot #4098, plan #76-1940, the cars in the #8000-8009 series seated 18 in the dome, and 18 in the lower dining room. For the ultimate in service and style, diners could host private parties for up to 10 people in the exclusive "Gold Room," where special gold pattern china and gold-plated table service was used in place of the traditional silver! The signature car for your 1960s City of Los Angeles, this detailed WalthersProto model also features:
PLEASE NOTE: As these cars are the correct prototype length and feature full underbody detail to match the prototypes, a minimum 24" radius is recommended for operation.
