The DE10 diesel locomotive, with orange-painted walkway and gold handrails on a black body, is currently used widely in the JR Kyushu areas. In 2010, the DE10 was painted black for an appearance on a Japanese TV drama, after its debut all eight DE10 locomotives belonging to the JR Kyushu were painted in this scheme.

This locomotive is primarily used for switching train cars in yards, while other uses are pulling construction trains and passenger trains. It has also pulled the celebrated “Twilight Express” and other famous Japanese cruise trains in Kyushu.

The Kato N Scale model will be a set of 2 locomotives, one fit with traction tires, and the other without. These locomotives can be run double heading each other or in push-pull operation with other

locomotives.
