 Open hoppers have been used to carry many different types of goods, from ballast to coal. Over the years, the size of these cars has increased to keep up with demand. The Pullman Standard PS 2750 3 Bay Hopper was designed in the early 1950's. The design proved to be very popular and more than 16,000 were butil from 1954 to 1971. Many railroads and private operators alike operated these cars. Today, these cars can still be seen in operation.
