These 39 ft single dome tank cars are painted black with white herald and lettering. They were built in March 1942 by Great American Transportation Corporation (GATCO), serviced in July 1962, and run the Central Western District on Bettendorf trucks.  Headquartered in San Francisco, CA, the Southern Pacific had over 11,000 miles of railway from Chicago, south to New Orleans, and west to San Francisco and Portland, OR. On August 9, 1988, the ICC approved the sale of the SP to Rio Grande Industries. The new system was named Southern Pacific Lines. SP & UP merged Sept. 11, 1996.
