This 50ft standard box car with 10ft single door, no roofwalk and short ladders is green with white lettering and runs on Bettendorf trucks. This boxcar started out as a 40ft car, originally built in 1941; it was rebuilt into a X44B class boxcar at the Beech Grove Shops to become 50ft in length, as capacity demand increased in the 1960s; it was used for general service. PRR was one of the largest Class 1 railroads until the 1968 merger with NYC to form Penn Central. Penn Central went bankrupt two years later and was merged into Conrail in 1976.
