Switchin' Along The Rio Grande

The reception to the films of Rio Grande Narrow Gauge shot by Emery Gulash in the 1960's has been incredible! So here is more from that master photographer, quite a different DVD. For a change of pace we are sure you will enjoy the many switching and servicing scenes along the line.

This DVD covers activity on all the then operating Rio Grande Narrow Gauge such as Alamosa, Chama, Antonito, Durango, and many locations on the line, including Pagosa Springs and the Farmington branch. Filmed in beautiful 16mm color...

Twilight Of The Rio Grande

In the late 60's, Emery Gulash, past president of Star Models and avid photographer, set out to record on film the passing of the Rio Grande's freight operations. With a 16mm Bolex and tripod, Emery was able to produce spectacular full-color history of one of the most famous narrow gauge operations in the U.S.

The photography of Emery Gulash is unsurpassed for its clarity, creative composition and brilliant color. Coverage includes single and double headed operations between Alamosa and Silverton, including Antonito, Cumbres, Chama and Durango.
Also included are many rare shots of Pagosa Springs and the Farmington branch.

Worktrain To Silverton

In the late 1960's, Emery Gulash, noted rail photographer, spent a considerable amount of time recording the history of Denver & Rio Grande Narrow Gauge before the abandonment of freight operations. The photography of Emery Gulash is probably some of the best railroad photography ever produced.
Shot in 16mm color with crisp image and highly creative scenes, 'worktrain' will grab your attention from beginning to end.

The action covers a train of drop bottom gons headed by a class K-28 Mike as it works its way between Durango and Silverton and return. The train starts out early in the morning, ahead of the Silverton passenger runs.
The crisp golden colors of early morning portray a warmness seldom seen in railroading.
The train is followed through the day as it switches at Hermosa, Silverton and interfaces with the Silverton passenger runs.
