Available On: August 1, 2022

The Series 683 is the newest generation of the "Thunderbird" which succeeds Series 681. The "Thunderbird" is a very popular train that operates a route from Osaka, the second largest city of Japan, to the northern coast of the island nation. The express train has been named after a wild bird, which inhabits the snowy coastal province and changes its color into white in winter. The almost white light-gray and streamlined body and aerodynamic pilot cars make the "Thunderbird" an extremely attractive and recognizable train.
When we offered the Series 681 "Thunderbird" model sets several years ago, they did very well.
After inauguration of Hokuriku Shinkansen, Series 685 Limited Express, which connected Kansai and Hokuriku regions, was renewed. The body color, symbol mark design wash changed simultaneously with the interiors improvement, leaving the previous image of the train. Running this limited express in combination with 10-1264, 10-1265 and 10-1266 Series E7 Hokuriku Shinkansen “Kagayaki” and 10-1262 and 10-1263 W7 Shinkansen “Hakutaka” will represent the current JR West Japan’s world, covering the urban network and Hokuriku region, by Kato’s N scale models.
Series 683-4000 is a 9 car fixed formation group manufactured between 2009 and 2011, and will be used on the "Thunderbird" train between Osaka and Kanazawa/Wakura Onsen(Hot spring). The first cars of Series 683-4000 and 683-2000 both have a front through-door (KURO 683 is a preparatory work) and a single-arm pantograph.
