Built in 1930 for the Chicago and North Western Railroad, these Pullman hospital cars were used for over 30 years to transportpatients daily from Chicago, Illinois to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. One car was named after famous physicianJoseph Lister, who advanced preventive medicine and antiseptic use, and Ephraim McDowell who was a pioneering surgeon.
