Series E3 Akita Shinkansen Bullet Train is a mini Shinkansen which runs between Tokyo and Akita in 3 hours 43 minutes at the shortest. Since it runs the conventional track area, it is smaller in the width and higher in the height than Series E2 Shinkansen, connected with which it can run. Between Tokyo and Morioka, it runs as connected with Series E2 Shinkansen "Hayate". It is equipped with a open top nose for this connection.
