Following an ordinance in 2012, the EF65 1000s, which were passed on from JNR to JR Freight, were renumbered as 2000s to distinguish them from the 1000s belonging to passenger companies. In recent years, it has become a topic of discussion that the JNR colors had been applied during general inspections.
They are active in a wide range of areas from the Tokyo metropolitan area to the Tokaido, Sanyo, and Shikoku regions.
Beginning with this product, a slotless motor will be used for the power unit, and the number plate and various markings on the body will be changed. The item number, MSRP, and JAN code will also be changed accordingly.
No other changes from previous models have been made.
