● Item Introduction

The E217 series, introduced at the same time as the 209 series, features lightweight stainless steel bodies with four doors, similar to the 209 series. The design of the high operating cab, equipped with a crushable zone in the leading car, has been inherited by subsequent models such as the E231 series 1000 series, E233 series, and E235 series. Along with its successor, E235-1000 series , it is still in service today.

• Body-mounted Kato tight couplers (with hook) are employed for connection between middle cars in the train.

• The front couplings of the additional 4th car and the 1st car feature KATO couplers with close-coupling mechanisms (without hooks) and come with electrical connections (single-stage).

• Slotless motor is adopted, realizing the smooth and quiet move.

• Destination stickers are enclosed for selection.
