● Item Introduction

Kato (Japan)  will be re-releasing the E235 series, the flagship train of JR East’s Yamanote Line. The E235 series, with its large front windows, display devices, and distinctive exterior design, has become a prominent new-generation commuter train. It is widely recognized as a standard model for JR East’s commuter trains.

◆ The E235 series for the Yamanote Line will be available in a cost-effective Best Selection package. This set is designed for both beginners and experienced users, allowing everyone to enjoy it easily. Additionally, a starter set for those new to model trains will also be re-released.

◆ The new product will feature a slotless motor for smoother and quieter operation. As a result, the item numbers for the basic and starter sets will be updated, along with changes to the retail prices and JAN codes.

*The E235 Series Yamanote Line Add-on Sets A (4 cars) and B (3 cars) are currently available.

◆ Product Features

  • The product is the JR East E235 series Yamanote Line Tō03 formation, which began operation in May 2017.
  • The cab is designed with a see-through feature for a more realistic interior view.
  • Includes the distinctive window arrangement of the Sah E235-4600 series, transferred from the E231 series 500 series. This transfer added antenna mounts and updated the air conditioner to match other E235 series trains.
  • Headlights, taillights, front display, and train number display are illuminated with clear LEDs. The headlights remain white even when off.
  • The front and side displays are pre-printed with "0913G" and "Yamanote Line." Additional front display options for "Shinagawa/Tokyo" and "Ikebukuro/Ueno" are included.
  • All cars feature printed wheelchair symbols, baby stroller symbols, and emergency door cock labels.
  • Uses body-mounted close-coupling couplers (without hooks).
  • DCC friendly.

〇Starter Set:

  • A starter set that combines a high-capacity power pack with enough track for a complete loop.
  • The vehicle specifications are identical to <10-1468S E235 Series Yamanote Line Basic Set (4 cars)>.
  • Power pack features high output (1.2A) "Power Pack Standard SX" and a dedicated AC Adapter. The power pack design is updated to black.
  • Features R315 curved track for smooth operation.
  • Includes a plan variation guide full of track plans for a more flexible system expansion.
  • The package includes a secret pocket for storing additional vehicle sets and track purchased separately.
