● Item Introduction
EF58 66 locomotive was introduced in 1953 and was part of the final production group of EF58 locomotives featuring large front windows (the third batch).
After being assigned to the Tokyo Depot, it was transferred to the Shimonoseki Depot and eventually to the Ryuuge Depot in 1978. In its later years at the Tokyo Depot, it was fitted with cold-climate features such as an icicle cutter on the front end. Upon its transfer to Ryuuge, its front headlights were upgraded to a dual-lamp setup.
In the final years of the JNR era, it gained popularity as the only remaining large-window unit aside from the imperial-use No. 61. It also hauled the night local train Hayatama. Though it was preserved following its retirement in 1986, the locomotive was eventually demolished in 1996.
◆ Travel back in time and experience the popular EF5866 locomotive from the Ryuuge Engine Depot. Use it to haul the <10- 1881 Night Local Train "Hayatama"> scheduled for release at the same time! By applying the included headmarks「ミステリー リレー号」 (Mystery Relay) and「さよなら66」(Sayonara 66) you can also recreate scenes from its use hauling passenger trains for various events.
