Between 1972 and 1985 almost 20,000 cars were built for the Canadian government to assist the Canadian railways in transporting vast quantities of grain. Canadian National, Canadian Pacific, and other companies own or lease this type of car.

The product is used in the production of plastics. Hexamethylene Diisocyanate is also used in the production of enamel paints and gives it that hard shiny surface for a more durable finish and is used in automotive and aircraft paint."
