The Re 4/4 II (Re 420) series is a series of Swiss electric locomotives manufactured between 1964 and 1985. The series earned a reputation for high reliability on Switzerland’s steep gradients and is well-known to have supported the modernization of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB). These models feature the appearances from Era V (mainly the 1970s–1990s) to the Era VI specifications from the 2000s onwards.
