● Item Introduction
The DE10 is a diesel locomotive originally introduced by Japanese National Railways in Showa 41 (1966). More than 700 units were manufactured for passenger and freight use on branch lines as well as for shunting duties, and they were active throughout Japan.
This version is well known for its distinctive appearance, including its semi-center cab offset to one side and its unconventional five-axle wheel arrangement. Even after the privatization of JNR, DE10 locomotives continue to be used nationwide, handling duties ranging from shunting to hauling passenger and freight trains.
