Full center sill tank cars are an older style of tank car where a cylindrical tank is placed on top of a traditional, full-length underframe (chassis), unlike modern “frameless” designs where the tank itself forms the main structural backbone, creating a lower, more efficient car. These vintage cars, common in the early-to-mid 20th century (1920s-1960s), carried various liquids like oils, chemicals, and corn syrup, often with multiple compartments for different products, and were known for their distinct appearance with visible underframes and dome tops. The Atlas Industrial Rail Tank Car features a durable plastic body with metal wheel sets and couplers.
