North American Car Corporation (NACC) produced this 33,000 Gallon Non-Insulated tank car design between 1963-1965. These non-insulated “pressure tank cars” were designed to haul a large payload of Liquified Petroleum Gas or Anhydrous Ammonia. Because these cars had two distinct tank diameters, they were called “Dual Diameter” cars. At the top of the car is a large “Manway Nozzle” for gas loading and unloading. These cars are notable because of the handrails that extend across the entire tank from the ends.

The Tangent Scale Models North American Car Corporation (NACC) 1963-design 33,000 Gallon Dual Diameter Flammable Gas Tank Car is a dimensionally-accurate replica that adds great visual variety to your tank car fleet. Tangent Scale Models model includes key build variations, notably cars with and without anti-personnel bars, as well as head shields for appropriate paint schemes. This replica includes Tangent Scale Models “near-scale” draft gear box including side “key” detail. Tangent Scale Models ready-to-operate replica is finished with coupler lift bars accompanying Kadee scale couplers, sufficient hidden weights, and CNC-machined wheels to ensure the model operates as well as it looks. – NCTX “Pacific 66 Calgary AB” 1979+ is a modernized version of the Pacific 66 car from 1964, which Tangent Scale Models also offer. This model includes a classy weathered white paint carbody, with the classic “Pacific 66.” The carbody includes the large words “LP Gas” prominently advertising – in large red and black stenciling – what these cars were designed to transport. In the center of the car, the black painted stenciling says “Pacific Petroleums Ltd. Calgary Alberta Lessee.” These cars feature the Roman-style NCTX reporting mark stenciling in black, which certainly “pops” against the white-painted carbody. The NCTX reporting mark was use for North American’s Canadian operations, and stands for North American Tank Car (Canada) Ltd. For the 1979+ version of this paint scheme, Tangent Scale Models have replicated the varying paintouts on the right side of the car. It also includes a fresh “Anhydrous Ammonia” stencil on the right side, as shown on the prototype photo Tangent Scale Models have worked from for this scheme, and is prominently referenced on their website. These cars have black anti-personnel bars along the carbody, to provide another cool detail. Also, these models have head shields installed on the car ends, which were mandated as a safety enhancement based upon a series of US Department of Transportation rules published in 1977 and generally executed in the 1978-1980 period. At that same time, DOT also mandated the retrofit of shelf couplers, and of course Tangent Scale Models have included genuine Kadee scale shelf couplers on their tank car models! These tank cars roll on Tangent 100-ton Barber S-2 trucks with 36’ wheels, separate truck brake beams and rotating Timken roller bearing caps. These cars are available now, perfect for filling out your location-specific trains. This Tangent model offering screams “Canada!” Finally, a Canadian tank car for the pivotal 1960s-1990s period! See Tangent Scale Models 1964 version of this paint livery to see these cars in their earlier lives, between 1964 and 1979.
