– Union Pacific (UP) “Bicentennial CH-100-28 1974” gives the patient Union Pacific modelers some love. Many of you have asked for us “to do the UP Bicentennial car” so – here it is! Union Pacific rostered eight groups of Pullman 4750s, and the Bicentennial car was one of the cars in the 1000-car order for lot CH-100-28. The Bicentennial car was produced when Pullman was transitioning from the combination closed-hole/open-hole side posts to only open side posts – a transition that occurred in this order of 1000 cars. The cars also include three distinctive appliances that make these Tangent models stand out from generic models: UP-specific corner steps – with the distinctive angle, bolted outlet gate flanges, and Landreth style roof hatches, with their distinctive zig-zag rib pattern. Check out those see-through Morton roof walkways and matching end crossover platforms. The models come equipped with body-mounted brake hardware and Tangent Scale Models 100-ton Barber S-2 trucks with rotating caps. Tangent’s execution of this gorgeous UP paint job is simply unmatched, created with care and accuracy down to the stencil marks are one-inch COTS panel lettering.
