Built for heavy, mainline railroading, the ES44AC plays a vital role in the roster of almost all Class I freight railroads. Designed to meet EPA Tier II emissions standards, the ES44AC succeeded the AC4400CW as Wabtec’s (formerly GE Transportation) premier AC traction locomotive in 2003, becoming the first member of the Evolution series. Today, more than 4000 examples can be found across North America, displaying varying configurations and features. Bachmann welcomes the return of this highly successful modern locomotive to their HO scale range with new prototypical paint schemes and updated features, including road-specific details and TCS WOWSound DCC.
