These three-bay hoppers were built in 1978 for P&LE, and through mergers, made their way to Chessie and later CSX. They were rebodied in the late 1990s by the Raceland Shops, giving them a new lease on life. In 1982, the L&N merged with the Seaboard Coast Line and Atlantic Coast Line to form Seaboard System. Seaboard later merged with Chessie System to form CSX.
