Built in 1953, this 65’ mill gondola was designed to haul finished structural steel shapes and other bulky loads, and featured drop ends that allowed the gondola to carry loads longer than the car. Lone Star Steel Company was based in Lone Star, Texas, and specialized in fabricating tubular steel pipe often for the petroleum industry, used in pipeline construction and refinery equipment.
