Chicago & Eastern Illinois was a wishbone shaped railroad connecting Chicago with Evansville, IN on the eastern leg and Chicago and St. Louis and the southern Illinois coal fields on the western legs. Both MoPac and L&N coveted the line as a route to Chicago. In 1963 a deal was struck with MoPac taking control of C&EI and selling the eastern leg to L&N (transferred in 1969.) They shared the northern end into Chicago. C&EI adopted the MoPac buzzsaw for it's logo until they finally merged in 1976. The removal of roof walks began in 1964 and the railroads were given a decade to complete the job. Most cars had their roof walks removed when they went in for repainting. This car has an ACI tag (the bar code left of the buzzsaw logo which was an automatic car identification system that first appeared on a limited basis in the late 60's. These cars are available in 3 different road numbers and are equipped with Micro-Trains Line trucks and couplers.
