Visible from Tokyo on a clear day, Mount Fuji has many different faces. It can be awesome and inspirational, fearsome and mysterious, beautiful and friendly (particularly for recreational activities). These different faces are uniquely depicted in the paint scheme of the "Mount Fuji Express". Now operated by the privately-owned Fuji Kyuko Railroad Company, the Mount Fuji Wxpress was originally a Series 165 train used by Japan Rail (JR) East as the JR Panorama Alps Express.

The Train was completely repainted in an entirely different image for its debut in carring tourists to scenic resort areas at the base of the famous mountain. The cartooned Mount Fujis are all different from one another, creating a unique character of the train. The engineer actually sits in a control compartment on top of the lead car, while first-class can enjoy the approaching scenery out a wide "picture window" on the front.

Fuji Kyuko, a privately-owned railroad company, has obtained from JR East Japan JR Series 165, which was used previously as JR Panorama Express Alps.

The train's body was repainted in an entirely different image to make its debut in carrying tourists to scenic resort areas at the foot of Mount Fuji. The cartooned Mount Fujis on the body side of the 6 cars are all different from each other in their expression, creating a unique character for the train.

Note: this N scale model set is actually two 3 car trains. The middle car of each consist is powered. Each 3-car consist has operational head/tail lights and a lifting (non-operating) pantograph. The interiour of the cars can be lighted with the optional installation of the Kato Interior Light Kit (11#204/206 or 11-209/210)
