The company was first organized on February 22, 1898. This was George Washington's birthday, hence the name of the company. In 1923 they purchased their first of many Seagraves, a 750-gallon-per-minute pumper, nicknamed "Big Bertha," They also took delivery of an anniversary series in 1953; watch for one of these soon. The 1,000-gallon-per-minute K model pumper was purchased in 1973 and is still in service with the company today. It is in the distinctive cream-yellow colors of Delanco. The company carried on its long relationship with Seagrave with the purchase of a 1,500-gallon-per-minute pumper in 1998. Part of the detail-driven line of fire rescue apparatus and vehicles.
