KATO is proud to present the redesigned Series 700 Shinkansen including revised car numbers, which will be available in a completely new set configuration this summer. The Series 700 Shinkansen was mainly used in Japan’s fastest train service [Nozomi] on the Tokaido / Sanyo Shinkansen line until its retirement in March 2020.
This model is the design basis of its two successors, the Series N700 and N700A, which have the same unique aerodynamic nose giving them their well-known characteristic design. The Series 700 Shinkansen comes with finely printed details, such as the train composition number on the front glass, the Series 700 logo – previously only applied as a sticker – and the “no-smoking” signs.
The “AMBITIOUS JAPAN!” logo for cars no. 1 and 16, and the 「ありがとう」“Thank you” decoration seen during the last train ride of the Series 700 Shinkansen are included as stickers for self-installation.
Thunderbird Basic 6-Car Set

The Series 681 began commercial operation in 1995 as a limited express AC / DC train connecting Osaka and Hokuriku and is still known today as the “Thunderbird” (Super Raicho). It was JR West’s first limited express train, featuring a new and unique design and a number of features. The Thunderbird was also seen combined with its successor, the Series 683, in a 12 car composition. With the opening of the Hokuriku Shinkansen line, the Series 681 has changed areas of operation and some of the trains have had their design changed to the so-called “Shirasagi.”
However, many of them are still active as “Thunderbird.”
The original "Thunderbird" painting of the Series 681 now makes a comeback in N Scale. You can enjoy driving it in combination with various other trains, such as the Series 221, 223, or 521 that are active in the same area.
This is a reproduced model of the Series 681 with mostly unchanged specifications to its predecessor. However, the whistle accessory was changed to a whistle cover.
EH10 Electric Locomotive

In 1954, four prototypes of the two-car connected EH10, Japans first H-class electric locomotive with 8-axis, were released and a total of 64 locomotives were manufactured by 1957. The box-shaped body without a deck, the inclined front window, the two-axis bogies, etc. made the EH10 Japans state-of-the-art machine at the time. In terms of its mechanisms and performance is still had the characteristics of older electric locomotives. One of the main features of the EH10 is its black body with yellow stripes – a unique paint scheme that was not used on other electric locomotives.
This locomotive is recommended as a traction machine for freight cars from the JNR era, but you can enjoy driving the EH10 with all of your favorite freight cars. The headlight of this product has been changed to a bulb color LED, the skirt structure has been revised, and the replacement coupler has been changed to a knuckle coupler. No other specifications have been changed from the previously produced model.
