Micro-Trains is excited to announce our newest series: the Solar System Series! This N scale series will feature nine remarkable 60 ft boxcars featuring stunning and iconic imagery of our eight planets and sun.
Included on the side of the car is a profile of each planet’s main physical characteristics along with interesting facts and a diagram showing the order and relative size of each.
Each Solar System Series car will be available with or without interior LED lighting, a feature that allows you to illuminate the planet’s image by use of a telescope-shaped magnetic wand.

Special food-grade tank cars have been used to transport a variety of sweet concentrates from distribution centers to factories all over the United States. Commodities such as corn syrup, cane syrup, honey, molasses and others were commonly shipped in bulk by rail in heated tank cars to processing plants, chocolate factories, breweries and soft drink factories. Sometimes adorned by bright and flashy artwork, they were colorful “stand-outs” in any manifest freight train. This Sweet Liquid Tank Car Series will feature twelve prototypically accurate 39’ Single Dome Tank Cars!

National Steel Car company was one of three manufacturers enlisted by Trailer Train Company to build their new fleet of 60’ excess height boxcars in 2003. These heavy-duty cars featured double plug doors giving the customer a 12’ opening to easily load everything from paper products, appliances to consumables.
Referred to as “Super Duty” cars, they join the growing fleet of “Plate F cars providing higher capacities for shippers looking to streamline their deliveries. Our model will feature fine mold detail and micro-fine printing, separate end ladders and brake rod detail, etched-metal brake platforms and painted underframe. The car will also have correct ride height with body-mounted couplers and all-new 36” metal wheels!
Built in October 1947, this R-40-23 class ice reefer had Preco air circulating fans and featured an all-welded underframe and additional insulation, compared to similar cars on other roads. Painted into the 1961 Pacific Fruit Express Scheme, many of the nearly 5,000 reefers in this class continued to roll in revenue service through the 1960s before being retired.
STILL AVAILABLE!
Swift and Company, founded in 1855, has always been known for their distinctive fleet of red ice refrigerator cars seen traversing North America since the early 1950’s. Many of the wood sheathed reefers in their fleet were built during the late 1920’s and over time underwent several paint schemes and mechanical modifications that lasted well into the mid-1960’s.
Micro-Trains’ latest multi-car release represents the 6100-6599 series of 36’ Reefers with the vertical brake staff. These 16-car packs will be available ‘Weathered’ and ‘Unweathered’, each with unique road numbers that make creating a realistic fleet of Swift reefers possible.
