Micro-Trains - N Scale - 3 Bay ACF Covered Hopper - Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) - #421991
These three-bay ACF covered hoppers with Barber Roller Bearing trucks were built in the 1970s and later repainted into the BNSF “Swoosh” paint scheme. Formed in 1996 following the merger of Burlington Northern and Santa Fe, BNSF is one of the largest freight railroads in the country with over 32,000 miles of rail.
Founded in 1906, Railroad Magazine was the first, and one of the most popular railroad pulp publications, containing first-hand railroad stories and informative articles. It was published until 1979 when it merged with Railfan Magazine to form Railfan & Railroad, now owned by White River Productions. Built in 1967 for the Baltimore & Ohio, this 50' B-74A-class plug-door boxcar with Roller Bearing trucks featured DF load devices, bulkheads, and a cushioned underframe to help secure and protect the load. Baltimore & Ohio was the oldest common carrier railroad in the United States, founded in 1830. After numerous mergers, it became a part of CSX Transportation, where its heritage lives on today.
Referred to as “Super Duty” cars, they join the growing fleet of “Plate F cars providing higher capacities for shippers looking to streamline their deliveries. Our model will feature fine mold detail and micro-fine printing, separate end ladders and brake rod detail, etched-metal brake platforms and painted underframe. The car will also have correct ride height with body-mounted couplers and all-new 36” metal wheels!
Micro-Trains - N Scale - 61ft flatcar - St.Louis South Western (SSW) - # 88125
This 61' flatcar with Barber Roller Bearing trucks was built in the late 1960s for St. Louis Southwestern to carry lumber, structural steel and pipes, as well as logs and other long commodities. The reinforced bulkheads provide load protection as well as prevent shifting during transit. St. Louis Southwestern, commonly known as Cotton Belt, was founded in 1891 and became a Southern Pacific subsidiary in 1932, before eventually fully merging in 1992. It is now a heritage component of Union Pacific.
