NARCorp Announces N Scale Union Pacific 4000cf Coal Gondolas At NMRA

Union Pacific Adds

4000cf Canadian Built Coal Gondolas

Two years ago, when we told our shareholders of our intention to build the 4000 cu ft Coal Hoppers, a couple of shareholders who model modern UP remarked "too bad we can't do them in Union Pacific".

Well, "be careful what you wish for". We have learned Union Pacific has acquired more than 120 ex-Procor owned 4000cf Coal Gondolas.

Unfortunately, it is too late for North American Railcar Corporation to offer this scheme in the initial release of this car. However, we are announcing 24 road numbers for this scheme to be released in 2013.

There will be two sets of 12 as some of the cars were built by Marine Industries and some by Hawker-Siddeley. The Marine Industries cars had a broad yellow band around the Brake End where the Double Rotary Coupler was located. The Hawker Siddeley cars only had a single yellow band.

The minimum run size will be 50 sets of the 24 road numbers. The cars will in be in "patched" Procor scheme with visibility marks, as this is how UP is running them currently.
